Apply to Join N3AS as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2023

The NSF Physics Frontiers Center Network for Neutrinos, Nuclear Astrophysics, and Symmetries (N3AS) intends to make four postdoctoral Fellow appointments for positions starting in fall 2023.

N3AS provides a unique multi-disciplinary environment for postdoctoral Fellows to address fundamental questions in astrophysics, cosmology, nuclear physics, and particle physics. All N3AS appointments are made through UC Berkeley. Fellows receive a salary of $74K, a generous travel allowance to enable travel to other N3AS institutions and collaboration with other N3AS members, and a relocation allowance.

This year N3AS is running two different searches:

  1. One position in the general area of gravitational-wave data analysis and connections to the modeling of binary neutron star mergers and core collapse supernovae. This Fellow would be hosted by one or more of New Hampshire, Penn State, or Stony Brook, centers of N3AS modeling. Three positions in studies of dark matter, dense matter, neutrino physics, and nucleosynthesis that impact gravitational waves and their interpretation, neutron stars and their mergers, and supernovae. Host institutions for these Fellowships are Kentucky, Notre Dame, and Ohio University. At the start of year three, contingent on satisfactory progress, these Fellows could continue their appointments at a second Network institution of their choice. Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. (on or after September 2020) in theoretical physics or astrophysics and the ability to work productively within a diverse and collaborative research environment, producing and publishing original research, and presenting that research effectively in seminars and scientific meetings.
