About

Jan’s research focuses on gravitational waves (GWs) from the early and late universe. In particular, he is interested in cosmological and astrophysical GW sources and what we can learn from the emitted GW signals about new physics phenomena.

GW signals which encode new physics phenomena are expected over a broad frequency range. Therefore, Jan also investigates novel detection ideas for GWs in frequency regimes that are difficult to probe with laser interferometers. Finally, Jan is working on novel ideas for axion dark matter direct detection. This line of research is highly interdisciplinary and often uses techniques from condensed matter physics and quantum sensing.
