Analysis of Data from the ATLAS experiment at the LHC

Prof. Haichen Wang

In this project, an undergraduate student will contribute to a collider physics measurement using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The student will learn basic concepts in experimental particle physics, and contribute to software development to enable the measurement. This can be the preparation and analysis of data, application of machine learning in particle reconstruction and event classification, or statistical interpretation of data. This project will also engage the undergraduate student in the activities of the ATLAS collaboration.

The student will interact with collaborators from other institutions and present their research work at internal ATLAS working group meetings. Through these activities, the undergraduate researcher not only will learn technical skills in particle physics data analysis but also gain exposure to large scale international research collaboration.
